Doka Hungary’s office renovation in Budapest by UPPER Design prioritizes employee input, spatial functionality, and branding to create a modern, collaborative workspace reflecting the company’s industrial identity and fostering community building.
Innovation and Work Environment Harmony – The Renewed Office of Doka Hungary
Doka a market leader in formwork and scaffolding systems for concrete construction, has modernized its office building in Óbuda, Budapest. The Austrian parent company, Doka, boasts a 153-year history, while Doka celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. This office renovation project focuses not only on creating a modern working environment but also on developing a long-term solution that enhances employee satisfaction and productivity.Collaboration and Employee Involvement
The office renovation began with a thorough needs assessment, which included interviews, workshops, and surveys. Employee feedback and requirements shaped the foundation of the new spatial design, resulting in an optimized layout. For instance, the engineering team, which was previously located in a separate building, now works directly alongside the rest of the staff, fostering better interaction and collaboration across departments.Space Concept and Functionality
The office spans three floors, each serving a specific function:
Ground Floor: This level is dedicated to conferences and professional training, with walls covered in Doka formwork panels that give the space a unique character. Across from it is a kitchen-dining area, which serves as a meeting point for employees and clients alike. A café-reception area connects these two spaces, with an integrated digital display in a metal partition structure that helps visitors navigate the Doka premises.First Floor: This floor houses the client reception area, back-office workstations, and executive offices. The client reception area features a striking service counter made of spatial ceramic elements. The customer meeting room stands out for its iconic ceiling design, created through a rhythm of Doka formwork props and LED strip lights.
Second Floor: This level is home to the engineering division and sales team workstations. The two teams are supported by a collaborative space that also features a cozy café point. This area is separated from the hallway by a visually striking concrete partition wall, enhancing the sense of teamwork and interaction.
Design and Branding
The interior design of the building reflects Doka’s innovative and industrial character. Clean spaces are combined with industrial elements, while the addition of green plant installations creates a pleasant atmosphere. Expanded metal ceilings, concrete partition walls, and lush plant decorations strike a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Doka’s signature blue and yellow brand colors are emphasized in the client-facing areas, while the workspaces maintain a minimalist, harmonious aesthetic.Innovation and Community Building
The new office focuses not only on modernizing the workspace but also on fostering a sense of community among employees. Shared dining areas, relaxation zones, and a ground-floor terrace all contribute to employee satisfaction. The spacious, sunlit rooms, combined with energy-efficient solutions, further enhance the comfort and sustainability of the workplace. In summary, the newly renovated office perfectly reflects Doka’s professional excellence and its commitment to employee well-being, while also providing a strong foundation for the company’s future growth and success in the coming decades.
